Riverside, CA --- Kandis Clesson pitched another brilliant game. She also pitched another hard luck game as for the second straight outing ISU couldn't muster a run, and Northern Illinois scored an unearned run on a close play at the plate, giving the Huskies a 1-0 win in ISU's final game of the Amy S. Harrison Classic at UC Riverside.

Clesson allowed just six hits, all singles, and just three walks, but she was done in by an unearned run in the fifth inning. The inning opened with back-t-back singles, but second baseman Jocelyn Horton caught a liner and threw to second fora double play. However, Horton committed an error on the next batter, allowing the inning to continue, and pticher Monica Segura made ISU pay, slapping a single to center that scored the only run of the game.

ISU had their best chance when they loaded the bases in the top of the fifth with one out on a walk to Terah Blackwell and hits by Erin Olander and Emily Hu, but Desirae Hoffman lined into a double play to end the threat.

The Bengals were only able to get three hits on the day, with Olander also having a third inning single. The game marked the second straight that Clesson couldn't get any support, as she lost a 3-0 decision to UC Riverside on Friday. The offense has not scored in her last 14.1 innings pitched.

Idaho State finishes off their road trip tomorrow with a game at Long Beach State at 12:15 pm.

NOTES: Five of ISU's 12 losses have been by shutout ... Clesson's ERA dropped to 3.75.
