Final Stats
Pocatello, ID - Idaho State and Utah State concluded its season in Ogden Tuesday night when the Bengal men fell 7-0 to the Aggies at the USU Outdoor Courts. Junior Danel Barrenechea captured the first of a three set contest before falling 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 to Sven Poslusny at the No. 2 spot. Utah State ends its season with an 11-10 record while the Bengals ended their season 1-12, 1-7 in Big Sky play.
Idaho State had tight contests in all three doubles matches but could not break ahead beginning the match down 0-1. Senior Javier Royo and Dakota Pate fell 8-6 to Jakob Asplund and Bryan Marchant at the No. 1 spot. Barrenechea and Colton Pate were overcome by Amit Maharaj and Poslusny 8-4 at the No. 2 position. Sophomore Dan Buckingham and freshman Nate Gross fell 8-6 to Nikita Ryashchenko and Alex Thatcher at the No. 3 position.
Senior Royo ended his career with a 6-0, 6-4 loss to Asplund. Ryashchenko overcame Buckingham 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 5 position. Freshman C. Pate fought hard and took his opponent to the brink before falling 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 6 position. His brother D. Pate who has been plagued with an injury in his last few matches was forced to retire.
