DES MOINES, Iowa - Junior Jaclyn Hone recorded her second double-double of the day with a 15 kill and 13 dig performance in Idaho State's 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19) victory over Stephen F. Austin at the Knapp Center Saturday afternoon. Hone's double-double was her fifth of the season.
Idaho State improves to 7-3 while Stephen F. Austin Fell to 2-8 for the season. The win gave the Bengals a 3-1 record at the Bull Dog Challenge hosted by Drake.
Freshman setter Lori Mendenhall was one dig shy of a double-double when she posted 36 assists. Senior outside hitter Haylee Thompson-Brock posted her eighth double-figure kill match of the season, fourth straight, with 17 kills for a match-high. Thompson-Brock notched 17 kills with only four errors from 40 attempts for a .325 attack percentage.
Defensive specialist Katie Grajewski recorded her first double-figure dig match as a Bengal with 11 ups. Stephen F. Austin's Madison Hanlan recorded 13 digs tying for the match-high with ISU's Hone. Stephen F. Austin relied on three players for their attacks resulting in three double-figure kills for Mary Caitlin Bottles (12), Melissa Miksch (11) and Allison Gideon (10).
Senior middle blocker Sarah Carson and senior outside hitter Thompson-Brock earned All-Tournament Team Honors. The All-Tournament Team honor is Carson's second of the season.
Idaho State will return to Reed Gym on Friday, September 17 for the Bengals home opener and Big Sky opener against the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona at 7 p.m. Last season the Bengals posted a 3-1 victory over the Lumberjacks to open Big Sky play.
