OREM, Utah - Idaho St ate opened with a slow start that was too much to recover from in the 2-0 loss to Utah Valley Thursday afternoon at Clyde Field. Utah Valley scored early in the first 4:57 seconds. The Bengals regained composure in the second period, but the Wolverines ended strong scoring a goal in the final seven seconds.

The loss marks the first time ISU has fallen in a contest to the Wolverines since the first contest in 2003, pushing the series to 4-1-2. Utah Valley improved to 3-5-0 for the season while Idaho State fell to .500 with a 5-5-1 record.

Though Utah Valley out-shot the Bengals 10-3 in the first period, they were untamed attempts as only three were on goal. The Bengals put themselves in good position posting three corner shots in the first period alone and of the three shots ISU had in the first half, two were on goal. The Bengals went on to edge Utah Valley 6-to-2 in corner kicks for the match.

With just under five minutes of play UVU's Katey Turner sent a through ball on a breakaway that allowed Regan Clifford to finish for her first goal of the season. After the break Idaho State recouped and played an even match with seven shots taken for each team. ISU still led the corner kick count with 3-to-2 in the second period.

Utah Valley's second goal was scored by Nicole Spencer for her second goal of the season. With seven seconds left Spencer took a shot 10 yards out to the back of the net. Spencer posted a game high seven shots. Senior forward Lauren Ryan and freshman midfielder Tara Bice each recorded a team high two shots.

ISU's keeper Bailey Williams recorded three saves in the contest. Utah Valley's keeper Lauren Sack recorded four saves and posted her second shutout of the season.

Idaho State will have extra time to rest and recuperate as they do not play again until Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Brigham Young on the South Practice Field in Provo, Utah. ISU will play its second night game of the season when they kick-off at Brigham Young at 7 p.m. Fans will have a chance to watch the Bengals as the contest will be broadcast on BYUTV.

Notes: Idaho State was whistled with four yellow cards including one awarded to ISU Head Coach Allison Gibson, her first of the season.
