Pocatello, ID - Senior outside hitter Haylee Thompson-Brock led the Bengals with 16 kills during the Bengals four set (21-25, 14-25, 25-18, 20-25) loss at Eastern Washington on Friday afternoon. Thompson-Brock posted her seventh double-figure kill match and notched her fourth straight leading Idaho State in matches this season.
Eastern Washington captured its first Big Sky victory of the season over ISU to improve to 2-10 for the season and 1-2 in league action. Idaho State fell to 8-5 for the season and 1-2 in Big Sky play.
The Bengals struggled offensively hitting their lowest attack percentage of league action with a .138 for the match, while EWU remained consistent hitting .250 for the match. Eastern Washington's wall was to blame as the Eagles out blocked ISU 14.5-to-8. EWU was led by Chenoa Coviare with 10 total blocks, one solo. Coviare posted the only double-double of the match as she added 11 kills with a .455 attack percentage.
Eastern Washington was led in kills by Alysha Cook with 13 while Jacque Brown chipped in 12 kills and eight digs. The Eagles led the first two sets, but Idaho State took an early lead in the third and did not relent. Eastern Washington dug deep and pulled out the four set win.
Idaho State's right side hitter Britta Bartschi-Rhodehouse, a senior, was one kill sky of a double-figure. Senior libero Jenna Proost led Idaho State with 16 digs and Jaclyn Hone notched 10 on defense. ISU's freshman setter Lori Mendenhall posted 39 assists, as well as seven kills with a .357 attack percentage and eight digs.
The Bengals will return to action at Portland State on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.
