GREELEY, Colo. – The Idaho State men's basketball team lost 57-37 at Northern Colorado on Thursday evening in the Butler Hancock Sports Pavilion. The loss drops Idaho State to 5-11 and 1-3 while Northern Colorado improved to 9-7 and 5-0 in Big Sky play.
Idaho State was led in scoring by Kenny McGowen's 12 points. Mike Lacey tied his career-high in rebounds with eight. Idaho State shot 25 percent from the field and out rebounded the Bears 36-34. Northern Colorado had only four offensive rebounds.
"About the only positive to pull out of the stat sheet is that we held them to four offensive rebounds," Idaho State coach Joe O'Brien said. "We will put this game behind us and come back in the gym tomorrow night to prepare for Saturday."
Idaho State trailed 34-17 at halftime. The Bengals only lead of the game was 3-2, three minutes into the game after a basket and a free throw by Phyl Taylor. The Bengals then found themselves down 15-5 eight minutes into the game. ISU got no closer than seven points the rest of the game and that was 15-8 with 9:11 to play in the first half.
Idaho State returns to the court on Saturday at 7 p.m. when it plays at Weber State. The game can be heard live on 930 KSEI.
