POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State stays in the state of Utah for the second straight week as the Bengals play at BYU on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. in Lavell Edwards Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on BYUTV with Dave McCann and Blaine Fowler calling the action and Robbie Bullough on the sideline.
Jerry Miller and
Brad Bugger will call the game for the Bengals on 930 KSEI.
This is the fourth overall meeting between the two schools but the first meeting since 1951 when BYU defeated Idaho State 27-7 in Provo. The previous three meetings took place in 1932, 1950 and 1951.
NCAA Statistical Leaders
David Harrington leads the nation in punting with an average of 48.89 yards a kick.
Rodrick Rumble leads the nation in receptions per game at 10.71 and he is second in receiving yards at 142.29.
Kevin Yost is ninth in the FCS in total offense at 298 yards a game. As a team, the Bengals are fourth in passing at 336.71 and third in net punting at 39.76.
STORMS CLOSING IN ON SCHOOL TACKLE RECORD
A.J. Storms has 383 career tackles and now needs only 32 tackles to become the Idaho State all-time leader in tackles, passing Mike Calley's 414 he had from 1984-87. The Big Sky Conference's all-time leading tackler is Kane Ioane from Montana State (2000-03), who had 471. The NCAA did not officially recognize tackles in the record books until 2000. Storms has had four straight weeks of double-digit tackle games, including 12 at Weber State last week and 17 vs. Montana on Oct. 8.
Biggest Road Crowds
Since 2004 the Bengals have played in front of large crowds at various FBS schools around the country. In 2010, ISU played in front of a record crowd of 92,746 at Georgia. The second largest crowd the Bengals played in front of was at Oklahoma (84,749). ISU played in front of 59,519 at Kentucky in 2005 and 57,216 at San Diego State in 2004. This year the Bengals play at BYU, which has a capacity of 64,045 at Lavell Edwards Stadium. The Bengals played in front of 42,588 at Arizona State, 38,491 at Oregon State, 32,318 at Boise State and 22,034 at Washington State to open the 2011 season.
BENGALS AGAINST FBS OPPONENTS
The last time Idaho State defeated an FBS opponent was a 27-24 victory at Utah State in 2000. Since that victory, ISU is 0-15 against FBS teams.
Rodrick Rumbles
Rodrick Rumble caught 14 passes for the second time this season for 166 yards and one touchdown at Weber State. For the season he has caught 75 passes for 996 yards and eight touchdowns. The 996 yards ranks him fifth on the single-season Top 10 list and the 75 receptions ranks him fourth. His eight touchdowns ties Sale' Key for 10th place on the single-season Top 10 list for receiving touchdowns. Only four former Bengals have had 1,000 yards receiving in a single-season.
