POCATELLO, Idaho - Junior outside hitter and defensive specialist
Breanne Van Every earned her second career Bengal Athlete of the Week Honors for matches played the week of Oct. 10 through Oct. 16.
Van Every, helped the Bengals capture a sweep of their road contests over Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado as well as move into a tie for third place in the conference standings.
The Chubbuck, Idaho native, recorded her seventh double-double of the season in a four-set win at Northern Arizona with 11 kills and 10 digs. Van Every posted a .226 attack percentage in the match while notching three blocks, two service aces and one assist. Idaho State's win over Northern Arizona broke the 'Jacks undefeated home record.
Idaho State then captured its second-ever win over Northern Colorado in a five-set victory. In the fifth straight five-set match-up, the Bengals ended up victorious led by Van Every, who recorded a career and match-high 22 kills, while maintaining a .302 attack percentage. Van Every was one dig shy of a double-double. She also recorded a block and a service ace.
The Bengals recorded their first victory over Northern Colorado in 29 years. The last time ISU defeated the Bears was a 2-1 victory in 1982. Three of ISU's last five five-set meetings occurred last season including ISU's first Big Sky tournament appearance since 2005 with a loss in the semifinals.
Over the weekend, Van Every averaged 3.67 kills per set while maintaining a .274 attack percentage. She also averaged 2.11 digs per set.
It is the third volleyball Bengal Athlete of the Week honor and Van Every's second of the season. Her first Bengal Athete of the Week award was earned on Sept. 26.
