Katharina Marsela captured two singles victories to advance to the quarterfinals of the consolation blue flight bracket at the Jack Taylor Tennis Classic hosted by Boise State earning her first Bengal Athlete of the Week honors for contests played from Sept. 27 through Oct. 2. It is the first Idaho State tennis Bengal Athlete of the Week.
Marsela fell to Boise State's Manulea Pietzuch 6-4, 6-0 in the main draw then defeated Weber State's Brittiny Moore 6-0, 1-6, 10-8 in the first round of the consolation bracket. She then staged a comeback against Boise State's Kaitlyn Brown to capture a 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory. She finished the tournament with a 6-3, 6-1 loss to New Mexico's Maria Saublina in the quarterfinals. Marsela is 2-0 in super ten-point tiebreakers for the fall season.
