Joe O'Brien Quotes
“The game opened up and it was a good basketball game. The first 10 minutes was up and down, both teams were scoring and shooting the basketball well. We are scoring inside and outside. I thought Kenny and Abner really got off to a good start. In the second 10 minutes it was like the three games in six days hit us. I thought our energy dropped a notch but still late in the first half it is 22-19 and we are right there knocking at the door. We hold Boise for a number of minutes at 22 and we didn't take advantage of that. It just wasn't enough energy. We played a smaller lineup to be able to get up and down with them. If you have a small lineup and you don't continue to play hard and aggressive basketball it is going to catch up with you and it did.”
“We didn't get the kind of production out of Melvin we have grown to expect early in the season. For the second or third game we didn't get much out of Andre. When two of your five starters don't score and you are accustomed to getting 10 and 16 points somebody has to make up for that. We called a lot of numbers but nobody was able to come in and pick us up. That is not the way we are going to win games. We have to spread the wealth a little more.”
“It was a little bit too late. You are down 18 or 20 and there is not as much pressure but he (
Sherrod Baldwin) came in and gave us a little punch. He is going to get some playing time as a result. We are still pushing buttons to find out who is going to give us good minutes on a given night.”
“They have been making 11 to 14 a game. That is what they do. That is how they spread you out and open the post. I am happy for them. We all wish we had a team that could go out and hit 11 or 12 3's every night.”
“We can't win games scoring 55 points. If we get back to 70-75 we will win a lot of games. If we stay in the 40 or 50's like we have in three games we are going to get beat.”
