Bengal Softball Plays at Utah

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State returns to the field for the first time since March 22 to play a single game at the University of Utah at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 1. The game will be played at Ute Field and Bengal fans can follow the game via audio and live stats by logging onto utahutes.com.

Idaho State has not played since March 22 where it split a double header with San Jose State, winning 7-4 and losing 4-3. Their game at Pacific that was scheduled for March 23 was rained out.

Utah leads the overall series 14-5. This is only the third meeting since the Bengal softball program was brought back in 2007. ISU lost 5-3 to Utah last year in February on a neutral field. The Bengals last win over the Utes was 4-3 on April 4, 1982.

Utah is 16-16 after splitting a double header with Boise State on Wednesday. The Utes lost game 1, 9-8 and won game 2, 2-1. As a team, Utah is hitting .276 and the pitching staff has a combined era of 3.15.

Bengals Among Conference Statistical Leaders
Christina Rayner is 14th in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference in batting average at .327. She is also 14th in era at 3.93, 10th in slugging percentage at .527 and sixth in RBIs at 17. Amanda Fitzsimmons is sixth in runs scored at 14 and fourth in doubles with seven while Erin Olander is fourth in walks with 12. Kandis Clesson is third in innings pitched at 83.1, third in strikeouts with 55, third in strikeouts looking at 18, third in wins with five, third in appearances with 19 and first in games started with 17. She also has the 16th best era at 4.54.

Clesson In the Record Books
Kandis Clesson is back for her senior season. She already holds nearly every pitching record in ISU history. Clesson currently holds the single-season record for wins (16), games (45), starts (29), complete games (25), innings pitched (211.2). Clesson tops the Bengal career-records for appearances (124), complete games (57), innings pitched (582,1), and strikeouts (344). She is currently two wins away from being the all-time win leader.
