Game Notes

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team continues its travels with a stop at Fresno State for the Bayer Crop Science Classic at Bulldog Diamond. The Bengals play seven games in a four-day period beginning March 10 against Troy. ISU also faces Drake, Bradley and Fresno State. Stay tuned to isubengals.com on how to follow the tournament.

The Bengals went 2-3 last weekend in the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, beating Utah State (10-2) and UC Riverside (12-9). ISU lost a close 5-3 game to No. 4 Arizona and a 7-4 decision to Minnesota. The 12 runs scored against UC Riverside was the most runs ISU has scored against a Division I opponent in a win. ISU also scored 12 runs in a 13-12 loss to Utah State early in the 2007 season.

Idaho State has never played Bradley (5-14), Drake (8-7), Fresno State (8-4) or Troy (15-6).

And the Winner is...
Idaho State earned its first PCSC Player of the Week accolade as Christina Rayner was named Mountain Division Player of the Week. Rayner had 10 RBIs, a grand slam and a home run while hitting .462. Rayner only struck out once in 13 at bats. Rayner had a school record seven RBIs in the 12-9 win over UC Riverside. That is the game where she recorded her grand slam and home run.

Bringing in the Runs
Last weekend in Tucson, senior Jessica Baca became the program's all-time leader in RBIs. She had four RBIs on the weekend, giving her 59 and passing Megan Miller's 56. Brittany Olsin is currently seventh with 45 RBIs.

Clesson In the Record Books
Kandis Clesson is back for her senior season. She already holds nearly every pitching record in ISU history. Clesson currently holds the single-season record for wins (16), games (45), starts (29), complete games (25), innings pitched (211.2). Clesson tops the Bengal career-records for appearances (115), complete games (53), innings pitched (543.2), and strikeouts (319). She is currently three wins away from being the all-time win leader.

Bengals Start New in 2011
The Idaho State softball team is getting a new look and it's not just the new uniforms the team will be sporting this season. The change started for the Bengals in July of 2010 when Julie Wright was hired as coach and later brought on Jessica Rogers to be her assistant. The team will be in a new locker room this year and on April 16 the Bengals will play the program's first-ever game in their new on campus facility, Miller Ranch Stadium.
