COLUMBIA, Mo. - Idaho State fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-9, 25-19) to undefeated North Dakota State in the team's first program meeting in the final match of the Tiger Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Bengals were led by redshirt freshman
Danielle Downs with 10 kills. North Dakota State improved to 3-0 for the season while ISU fell to 1-3.
The Bengals went back-and-forth with North Dakota State to open the match and were last tied at 13 before the Bison jumped out to a five point lead that ISU was unable to recover from. In the second set, ISU struggled offensively hitting a -.080 attack percentage posting just four kills. The Bengals held a 7-6 lead in the third set however, three straight service errors that put the Bengals too far behind to close the gap.
Freshman Alydia Fields and senior
Vanessa Muir both had zero attak errors on the night posting three and four kills respectively.
Senior
Karissa Legaux and sophomore Lori Mendenhall split time as setters giving both double-figures in assists. Legaux led with 13 assists while Mendenhall notched 10. Searle led ISU for the fourth straight game in digs with eight.
North Dakota State's Megan Lambertson posted a game-high 12 kills from 17 attack and had zero errors fro a .706 attack percentage.
Next week Idaho State competes in the Utah State Tournament where the Bengals play Utah State, Texas State and Syracuse. ISU opens by playing the tournament host on Thursday, Sep. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Specturm.
