POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team opened fall camp on Thursday afternoon with the first practice in preparation for the 2011 season. While it was the first fall practice, the Bengal football team went in with the mentality that this was the 16th practice session, including the 15 spring practices the team had.
“We told them last night that this was not practice one, it was practice 16 and they showed it,” coach
Mike Kramer said. “We did things in today's practice that it took us 13, 14 practices to do. We made a lot of mistakes but it is day one and we still have 34 to go. It is all very positive today. We haven't hit anybody yet. It's still PE football.”
Thursday was also the first time the three quarterbacks,
Kevin Yost,
Justin Arias and
Brad Kragthorpe were able to hit the field together.
“When you take all three guys and you put their GPA together and you add them all up and it comes close to 12 you have guys with tools in their kit that allows them to master their position,” Kramer said. “What I saw today was an example of that.”
The Bengals will practice at 2:30 through Monday before two-a-day work outs start on Tuesday, August 9.
“We want to get everybody involved and by next Tuesday we will start to isolate down on the guys that can play,”
