Bengals Capture UniWyo Classic Tournament Title

POCATELLO, Idaho -
Idaho State captured its second UniWyo Cowgirl Classic Title with a 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 31-29, 25-23) defeat of tournament host Wyoming Saturday afternoon at the UniWyo Sports Complex.  Idaho State earned its first UniWyo Cowgirl Classic title in 2009. 

Three Bengals recorded double-double performances.  Sophomore setter Lori Mendenhall notched her third double-double of the tournament with a career-high tying 58 assists and a career-high 16 digs.  Breanne Van Every, a junior, notched 16 kills and 11 digs while redshirt freshman Danielle Downs had 12 kills and 11 digs.

Van Every led the Bengals with 16 kills.  Freshman middle blocker Whitney Bartschi and senior middle blocker Vanessa Muir both had 14 kills while hitting above a .300 attack percentage.  Bartschi posted a .385 attack percentage while Muir had a .310 hitting percentage.

Kylee Searle, a redshirt freshman libero, led the Bengals with 17 digs while Katie Grajewski, a junior libero, notched 10 digs. 

Idaho State improved to 5-5 while Wyoming fell to 6-5 for the season.  The Bengals play their first Big Sky contest on Sept. 16 at Portland State at 8 p.m.
