Bengals Host Utah Valley in Final Non-Conference Contest

Idaho State is 3-0 against the Wolverines at Davis Field

BENGAL OVERVIEW

Idaho State (3-5-1) hosts Utah Valley (3-6) in the final non-conference game of the season at Davis Field Thursday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. The Bengals are 3-0 against the Wolverines at home and are 4-1-2 overall. This season, Idaho State is 2-1-1 at Davis Field.

ABOUT IDAHO STATE
Idaho State is tied for third most wins in the conference with three and have scored the most goals against opponents with 13. Amanda Ellsworth leads the Bengals with five goals scored from 21 shots. When Ellsworth is on target she is unstoppable as the freshman has scored on five of her seven shots on goal. She scored a season-high two goals from three shots on goal including the game-winning goal. Rachel Strawn, a junior forward, leads the Bengals in shots with 22 and shots on goal with 12. Eight different Bengals have scored at least one goal this season. Sophomore midfielder Allyson Stainbrook leads the Bengals in assists with three.

BENGALS LOOK TO SNAP NON-WINNING STREAK
Idaho State looks to snap a six-game non-winning streak when the Bengals host their final non-conference contest against Utah Valley Thursday. The Bengals longest non-winning streak was 14 games in 2008 including four tie games.

STRAWN HUNGRY FOR HER SECOND GOAL OF THE SEASON
Rachel Strawn is burning up the field looking for her second goal of the season. The junior forward is leading the Bengals in shots (22) and shots on goal (12) posting a .545 shot on goal percentage. She owns a .543 shot on goal percentage over her career. Strawn has scored two goals each year, 2009 and 2010, and is hungry for her second goal of the 2011 season. Four of her five goals have been game winners. Strawn has also notched 11 career assists.

BENGALS IN THE BIG SKY
Idaho State leads the Big Sky in shots (146), points (38) and goals (13). The Bengals are also aggressive on the field leading the Big Sky in fouls (106) and yellow cards (17). Averaging 503 fans a game the Bengals bring in the second largest attendance in the Big Sky. Amanda Ellsworth is tied for second most points in the league at 10 and tied for second most goals at five. Allyson Stainbrook is tied for second in the league with three. Carly Hutchings-Maloney is third in the league with 31 saves.

ABOUT UTAH VALLEY
Utah Valley is 3-6 for the season and is on a two game losing streak. The Wolverines have seen success against Big Sky schools having defeated Portland State 4-2 but was overcome by Weber State 1-0 with both matches at home. Utah Valley is 1-2 on the road. Filled with three solid strikers, Haley Curtis leads UVU with three goals followed by Natalie Young and Shalayne Janis who each have two goals. Young leads Utah Valley in points with seven. Former ISU redshirt Chelsea Bell is on the UVU squad.

UTAH VALLEY SERIES INFO AND LAST MEETING
The Bengals are 3-0 against the Wolverines at home and are 4-1-2 overall. In the last meeting in 2009, ISU fell 2-0 at Utah Valley with Wolverine's Regan Clifford and Nicole Spencer scoring against ISU. In the team's last meeting at Davis Field in 2009 the Bengals overcame UVU 2-1 with goals from Annamarie Hofstetter and Rachel Strawn with the game winning goal. Idaho State out-shot Utah Valley 24-to-13.
