BENGAL OVERVIEW
Idaho State track and field will head to Nampa, Idaho this weekend to compete in the Jackson's Invitational hosted by Boise State University. The will begin on Friday, Jan. 27 at 10:30 a.m. and continue Saturday, Jan. 28 at 10:30 a.m. The Bengals will meet up with Big Sky opponent Sacramento State at the invitational. In the Big Sky coaches' poll, the Sacramento State women were ranked first and the men ranked second.
MIKE ARNOLD
On Jan. 21, senior
Mike Arnold placed second at the Reno Pole Vault Summit with a height of 5.25m. During the 2010-11 season, Arnold won the men's pole vault at both the Big Sky Indoor and Outdoor Championships. He currently sits in fifth on the list of all-time best performers in the pole vault. In the men's long jump, Arnold placed fourth at the Snake River Open with a distance of 6.60m, a career best.
BRADI HUTCHISON
Bradi Hutchison was named Big Sky Athlete of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. This marks the third time Hutchison has been honored this year. This season, Hutchison's 3000m time of 9:40.32 ranks first in the Big Sky and 14th in the nation and her mile time of 4:52.66 ranks second in the Big Sky and 22nd in the nation. Hutchison holds school records in the women's 3000m, indoor and outdoor 5000m and 10,000m.
MEN'S HEPTATHLON
Four Idaho State men currently sit in the top-50 nationwide for the heptathlon. Justin Critser ranks 14th with 5046 points ,
Harley Goedhart ranks 22nd with 4935 points,
Logan Henderson is 27th with 4880 points and
Christoph Lange is 33rd with 4816 points. All four are qualified for the Big Sky Championships.
BENGAL WOMEN PREVIEW
Six Idaho State women have qualified for the Big Sky Championships.
Bradi Hutchison and
Audrey Urlacher will be competing in the women's 3000m, and Hutchison has also qualified for the women's mile. Freshmen Shayla Richardson has qualified in the women's high and ranks fourth in the Big Sky,
Rebecca Clark ranks sixth in the Big Sky for pole vault and qualified for the Big Sky and Kaitlin Keller qualified for Big Sky in the triple jump. Sophomore
Andrea Vicic qualified in women's pentathlon with 3243 points at the Snake River Open.
BENGAL MEN PREVIEW
The Bengal men have qualified seven for the Big Sky Championships, including four in the men's heptathlon. Freshman
Christoph Lange has qualified in the heptathlon, triple jump and 60m hurdles. In the men's high jump, Justin Critser,
Tysun Gunter and
Colin Riley have all hit Big Sky standards.
Jesse Sorensen rounds out the group qualifying for the men's 400m with a time of 49:00. Sorensen ranks fifth in the Big Sky for the 400m.
