CEDAR CITY, Utah – Redshirt freshman Tressa Lyman recorded her seventh double-double of the season as she led Idaho State (16-4, 10-1 BSC) past Southern Utah (8-14, 4-7 BSC). Lyman recorded a team-high 15 kills and 11 digs. Lyman also had one assist, two service aces and two blocks.

“With Tressa being a redshirt freshman, it's exciting to know that we have her this year as well as three more years after this,” ISU Head Coach Chad Teichert said. “She is a great athlete and a very hard worker. Tonight was a special night for her because we were playing close to her home town. Her high school team and family were in the stands cheering her on.”

Idaho State opened up to an early lead, taking the first two sets 25-17 and 25-18. The Bengals dropped the third set 25-16 before settling the match with a win in the fourth set 25-17.

“I think anytime you get a road win in this conference it is a big deal,” Teichert said. “I think at times we played extremely well and then other times we didn't play as well. If we had been a little more consistent, I would have felt a little better but at the end of the day a win on the road is something to feel good about.”

Redshirt senior Jaclyn Hone-Hawkins had a team-high seven blocks as well as eight kills and 10 digs. Junior setter Lori Mendenhall led in assists with 41.

Idaho State notched six total service aces during the contest. Lyman had two as did sophomore Alydia Fields and redshirt sophomore Kylee Searle.

The Bengals boasted a .211 attack percentage with 11 total blocks for the contest while Southern Utah had a .140 attack percentage and 10 blocks.

ISU has now won six straight matches and will look to extend its win streak against Northern Arizona Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Flagstaff, Ariz. Idaho State won the last meeting with the Lumberjacks 3-1 in Pocatello on Sept. 14.
