The Bengals are 7-4-1 on the season and are led by senior forward
Rachel Strawn who has netted 10 goals this season. The 5-2 senior also leads ISU in points (21), shots (41), shots on goal (22) and game-winning goals (5). Sophomore forward
Amanda Ellsworth leads the assist effort with five in her sophmore campaign. At goal, freshman
Sheridan Hapsic has 25 saves and 11 goals allowed. ISU has scored 22 goals this season and recorded 175 total shots.
Idaho State leads the conference in points, averaging 5.08 per game. The squad also leads in total goals (22), goals per game (1.83), assists (17) and assists per game (1.42). Strawn leads the conference indiviudally in shots per game, points, points per game, goals and game-winning goals. She is second in the conference in shots. Senior midfielder
Anna Pingree is third in the conference in goals (3). Ellsworth is leading the conference in assists (5) and is second in points (13). Nationally, ISU is ranked No. 79 in scoring offense.
LAST WEEK IN BENGAL SOCCER
Last week, ISU remained undefeated at Davis Field with a sweep of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. The Bengals defeated the Thunderbirds Friday afternoon behind a two-goal performance by senior
Rachel Strawn. Strawn scored her ninth goal of the season early in the contest and scored the game-winning goal with just two seconds remaining in the contest for a dramatic 2-1 finish in regulation. On Saturday, freshman Katie Flynn made her breakout performance as she scored her first collegiate goal in the 32nd minute and followed up just two minutes later with an assist for the game-winning goal as Idaho State downed the Lumberjacks 2-1.
STRAWN AMONG NATION'S BEST
Not only is senior forward
Rachel Strawn leading the team and the conference, she is also putting herself among some of the top players nationally at the DI level. Strawn is currently third in the country at the DI level in game-winning goals, 11th in total goals, 13th in goals per game, 24th in total points and 27th in points per game.
Strawn continues to climb the ISU record lists. With 10 goals this season, she is one goal away from tying the ISU single-season record for goals made and is six away from tying the very same Big Sky record. Strawn is now third in ISU single-season points (21).
Career-wise, Strawn is now second all-time in ISU history for career points (47), goals (16), game-winning goals (9) and shots on goal (68). She is fifth in shots with 125 total.
PINGREE LEADS BENGALS AT THE MIDFIELD
Anna Pingree continues to be a strong presence for ISU in the midfield. She scored her fourth goal of the season in the 55th minute against UVU, putting ISU up 1-0. The goal also marked the second time this season that Pingree has been the first player to put ISU on the board this season.
Pingree scored three goals at the Governor's Cup, earning co-Big Sky Player of the Week honors. Pingree helped ISU shutout Idaho 2-0 with a volley on a corner kick for the goal to put the Bengals up 2-0. The Bengals improved to 4-0-0 after the win over Idaho, the first time ISU has started at 4-0 since the 2004 season. Pingree scored two goals against Boise State in a 3-2 overtime loss. She tied the game 1-1 in the 58th minute and scored again in the 69th minute to put ISU up 2-1. Pingree has four goals on the season and two assists for a total of 10 points.
ELLSWORTH SCORES ISU'S FASTEST GOAL
In ISU's 2-1 loss to Eastern Washington, sophomore forward
Amanda Ellsworth helped ISU jump to a very early lead with a goal in the 22nd second of the game. The goal is ISU's fastest goal from the start of the game. Stacey Peterson previously held the record, scoring 36 seconds into the game against Youngstown State in 2002.
ABOUT WEBER STATE
Weber State is currently 4-9-0 overall and 2-2 in conference action. The Wildcats are 2-3 at home this season. WSU won its last contest 1-0 against Southern Utah last week. Overall, the Wildcats have recorded 10 goals with 169 shots total this season and average .77 goals per game. Makenzie Harrison leads the Wildcats with three goals, seven points, 34 shots, 19 shots on goal and one game-winning goal. Chansi Crompton leads in assists with five on the season. Goalkeeper Ryann Waldman has allowed 14 goals and recorded 52 saves so far this season. She has complied a 4-8 record with three shut outs in 1050:19 minutes of play.
SERIES INFO AND LAST MEETING WITH THE WILDCATS
Weber State leads the series 9-6-1 and the Wildcats have won the last two meetings defeating Idaho State 2-0 on Oct. 29, 2010 in Ogden and 1-0 on Sept. 30, 2011 in Pocatello. Idaho State last defeated Weber State 4-0 on Oct. 31, 2009 in Pocatello. Idaho State's last victory against the Wildcats in Ogden occurred Nov. 2, 2002 in a 2-1 decision.
