PORTLAND, Ore. – The Idaho State volleyball team has finished second in the Big Sky regular season after falling to Portland State 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18) Saturday night. Idaho State finishes conference play at 16-4 while Portland State takes the conference title with a 17-3 record. Northern Arizona lost to Northern Colorado Saturday giving the Lumberjacks the third seed with a 15-5 record.
This is the highest conference finish for the Bengals under head coach
Chad Teichert and the best finish since the Bengals finished in a tie for third during the 2010 season. As the No. 2 seed, the Bengals will receive a bye to the semifinal in the Big Sky Tournament.
ISU will make its ninth program appearance at the Big Sky Tournament and as the No. 2 seed, will have its highest seeding in the tournament since 1995 when the Bengals also received the No. 2 seed.
Senior outside hitter
Breanne Van Every led ISU against the Vikings with a double-double, recording 16 kills and 14 digs.
Redshirt freshman
Tressa Lyman and junior setter Lori Mendenhall also recorded double figure digs as Lyman had 12 and Mendenhall recorded 13. Mendenhall also had a team-high 38 assists.

Jaclyn Hone-Hawkins led ISU with five blocks.
The Bengals recorded a .133 attack percentage to Portland State's .212 and the Vikings out-blocked ISU 9-8.
The Bengals will be in the hunt for a Big Sky Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth next week. The Big Sky Conference Tournament will be held in Greeley, Colo., and will be hosted by last year's champion, Northern Colorado. Play begins Friday, Nov. 23 and continues with the championship game Saturday, Nov. 24.
