Box Score

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball (19-5, 13-2) defeated Montana (6-18, 4-11) in straight sets Friday night. ISU won the first set 25-16 and the second 25-11. ISU came out after half time and won the final set 25-13.

Junior setter Lori Mendenhall nearly completed a double-double as she recorded 32 assists with nine digs. The Salt Lake City, Utah native also had four kills off five attempts for a .800 attack percentage as well as tallying a service ace during the night.

Senior middle blocker Jaclyn Hone-Hawkins and redshirt freshman Tressa Lyman led ISU offensively with eight kills each. Hone-Hawkins had a .300 attack percentage while Lyman sported a .286 attack percentage.

Redshirt sophomore Kylee Searle led the team with 11 digs while Hone-Hawkins and senior outside hitter Breanne Van Every both recorded a team-high three blocks on the evening. Van Every also had a team-high two aces, bringing her season total to 26.

“I think we were very focused and intense from the very beginning,” ISU Head Coach Chad Teichert said. “I think that the longer they kept up that intensity, the harder it became for Montana to deal with it. Sometimes things go your way a little bit; they get a great block but you're there to pick it up or they hit a great shot but you're there to make the dig. I think we had quite a few of those go our way tonight and with that our team played some very good volleyball.”

With the win, Idaho State has swept the Grizzlies this season as the Bengals defeated Montana 3-2 in Missoula earlier this season. This is the first time that ISU has swept Montana in a season since 2003.

With nine digs tonight, Hone-Hawkins has a total of 989 career digs, 11 away from reaching 1,000.

Overall, ISU hit very well during the contest going 42 for 98 for a .306 attack percentage. ISU's defense held the Griz to a -.010 attack percentage. The Bengals out-blocked UM 7-4.

With five more games remaining in the regular season, ISU Head Coach Chad Teichert has already recorded his most successful season at ISU this year. The win over Montana gave ISU 19 total wins, the most under Teichert in a single season. Teichert and the Bengals recorded 18 total wins during the 2010 season. If ISU wins tomorrow night, it will be the first 20-win season for ISU since 2003.

ISU faces Montana State, one of just two Big Sky teams to have beaten ISU this season, Saturday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. in Reed Gym.
