SALT LAKE CITY, Utah- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost 60-45 to Wright State on Friday evening at the Huntsman Center. The Bengals fell to 0-4 while Wright State improved to 4-1.
Idaho State was held to 30 percent shooting from the field while Wright State shot 46.9 percent. ISU was out rebounded 30-27 and was forced into 17 turnovers and Wright State had only seven. The Bengals were 22-for-27 from the free throw line but made only nine field goals on 30 attempts.
“They are very good defensively,” Idaho State coach
Bill Evans said. “I am not going to blame a bunch of 20 year old kids. Wright State was a lot tougher then we were and they were better coached then we were. I am not afraid to say that. This is the first game where they handed it to us. We didn't respond the right way.”
Melvin Morgan led Idaho State with 14 points.
Neveij Walters had 10 rebounds off the bench in 19 minutes of play.
Nnamdi Ezenwa had seven points in 29 minutes of play off the bench.
Idaho State led 7-6 in the first five minutes of the game before going without a point for the next five minutes and falling behind 19-7 with 10:10 to play in the half. ISU trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half but cut it to 31-23 at halftime.
Wright State extended its lead to as many as 22 points in the second half.
