Bengal Softball Plays at UNLV in Louisville Slugger Classic

Idaho State plays six games in three days.

Idaho State plays six games in three days this weekend at the UNLV Louisville Slugger Classic.
Game Notes

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State returns to the field Feb. 17-19 for the Louisville Slugger Classic in Las Vegas. UNLV is hosting the 17-team classic. The Bengals play six games over three days beginning, Friday, Feb. 17 vs. Memphis.

Series Info vs. Memphis
Memphis is 2-2 on the season and leads the overall series. Idaho State fell to the Tigers 10-1 on Feb. 17, 2008.

Series Info vs. UNLV
This is the third meeting between the two schools. The first two meetings were played in 2010 with UNLV winning 9-8 in eight innings and 19-4. UNLV is 3-2 on the season.

Series Info vs. Texas Tech
This is the first meeting between the two schools. Texas Tech is 1-4 on the season.

Series Info vs. Hawai'i
Hawai'i is 6-0 and receiving votes in the Top 25 poll. This is the second meeting between the two schools. In the first contest Hawai'i defeated the Bengals 8-0 on March 3, 2008.

Series Info vs. Ohio State 
This is the first meeting between the two schools. Ohio State is 2-3 and receiving votes in the ESPN Top 25 poll. As a team OSU is hitting . 295.

Series info vs. San Jose State
The series is tied at 2-2. The two teams played a double header last year in San Jose with the Bengals winning 7-4 and losing 4-2. The Spartans are 1-4 on the year.

Fitzsimmons Named Mountain Division Player of the Week
Amanda Fitzsimmons was named the Mountain Division Player of the Week in the first week of the season for her performances last week at Arizona State. In six games, Fitzsimmons hit .524 (11-for-21) with three homeruns and 13 RBIs. She recorded a hit in five of the six games and tied a PCSC and set a single-game school record with five hits in a 16-1 win over Bradley. In that game she was 5-for-6 with two homeruns and five RBIs. Fitzsimmons had two hits vs. Nebraska and New Mexico and scored seven runs for the week.  She had a 1.048 slugging percentage and a .583 on base percentage.

Bengals Set Records on Opening Weekend
In the opening weekend at Arizona State, several Bengal softball players set single-game school records. Amanda Fitzsimmons set the school and tied the PCSC record for hits in a game with five against Bradley. Kelsi Ott set the single-game record for strikeouts with 12 against McNeese State and the 16 runs scored in the win over Bradley was the most runs scored by a Bengal team against a Division I opponent since the program was brought back in 2007. The 23 hits against Bradley was a PCSC and single-game Idaho State record.
