Bengals Drop Final Game at UC Riverside

Idaho State returns to the field March 9.

Idaho State has a weekend off before returning to the field March 9 at UC Davis.

POCATELLO, Idaho-  The Idaho State softball team dropped the final game of the aTEN Construction tournament at UC Riverside, losing to Illinois-Chicago, 7-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Bengals had seven hits on the day with Becky Simonsen and Courtney Dial each coming up with two. Haley Douglas pitched the first five innings and allowed six hits, two runs, four walks while striking out two. Amanda Fitzsimmons tossed the final two, allowing five hits and five runs.

UIC took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and it was extended to 2-0 after four. Illinois Chicago scored three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to seal the win.

The Bengals return to the field March 9-11 for games against UC Davis and Sacramento State at UC Davis.
