POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State concludes the regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Eastern Washington. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. mountain time. Both teams are 7-8 in Big Sky play and the two teams will play again on March 3 in quarterfinals of the Big Sky Tournament. The only thing to be decided is if the game will be played in Pocatello or Cheney. The winner of Tuesday's game will earn the fourth seed and host the contest with the loser earning the fifth seed.
Eastern Washington leads the overall series 35-27. ISU has dropped the last four meetings with the Bengals last win being a 80-74 victory on Jan. 22, 2010 in Pocatello. Idaho State's last win at Eastern Washington was a 65-63 victory on March 1, 2003.
Eastern Washington is 13-16 and 7-8 in Big Sky play. The Eagles are 7-4 at home and led by the play of Cliff Colimon's 17.3 points a game in conference and 15.5 overall average. Eastern Washington is scoring 72.4 points in conference play and shooting .405 percent from the field.
The Idaho State men's basketball team has clinched a spot in the Big Sky Tournament for the first time since the 2008-09 season. Idaho State is currently 7-8 and in a tie for fourth place with Eastern Washington. In 2008-09, the Bengals finished 9-7 in conference, in fourth place and beat Northern Colorado 67-60 in the quarterfinals before losing to Portland State 61-53 in the semi-finals.
Conference Tournament Seeding up for Grabs
Going into the final day of regular season play on Tuesday, two games will determine the seeding for the conference tournament. The winner of the Idaho State/Eastern Washington game gets the fourth seed with the loser getting the fifth seed and the winner of the Weber State /Montana game gets the first and second seeds and will host the tournament.
Hatchett up a Career Night
Andre Hatchett had a career-high 17 points and nine rebounds in 39 minutes of play on Thursday against Eastern Washington. Hatchett was 6-for-11 from the field. He is coming off a game where he played a career-high 45 minutes at Pacific.
