POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team plays Eastern Washington for the third time in four games on Saturday at 3 p.m. mountain time. This time the two teams play each other in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Tournament. The game can be heard live on 930 KSEI with
Jerry Miller calling the action. This is the first time Idaho State has earned a bid to the tournament in three years.
Eastern Washington leads the overall series 36-27. ISU has dropped the last five meetings with the Bengals last win being a 80-74 victory on Jan. 22, 2010 in Pocatello. Idaho State's last win at Eastern Washington was a 65-63 victory on March 1, 2003.
Eastern Washington is 14-16 and 8-8 in Big Sky play. The Eagles are 8-4 at home and led by the play of Cliff Colimon's 15.9 points a game and Collin Chiverton's 14.7 points. Cliff Ederaine is scoring 10.6 points and averaging 7.6 rebounds Eastern Washington is scoring 72.6 points a game and shooting .406 percent from the field.
Bengals in the Tournament
The Idaho State men's basketball team is in the Big Sky Tournament for the first time in three years. This year is only the seventh time since the 1996-97 season that Idaho State has earned a bid to the Big Sky Tournament. The Bengals have advanced to the semi-finals three times and lost in the quarterfinals the other three years. In the three years Idaho State advanced to the semi-finals they were a five seed (2007-08), four seed (2008-09) and a three seed (2003-04). The year's they lost in the quarterfinals they were a six seed (2006-07), three seed (2000-01) and a five seed (96-97).
Hatchett Up a Career Night
Andre Hatchett had a career-high 17 points and nine rebounds in 39 minutes of play vs. Eastern Washington on Feb. 23. Hatchett was 6-for-11 from the field. He played a career-high 45 minutes at Pacific. He had a career-high five assists at Eastern Washington on Feb. 28.
