POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team returns to the field this weekend for the SpringHill Suites Invitational at Boise State. The three day invitational is March 16-18 and the Bengals play Boise State, Minnesota and Utah State.
Idaho State opens play on March 16 against Minnesota at 2 p.m. The Bengals then play Minnesota again on the 17th at 2 p.m. and Boise State at 4 p.m. The final day of play has the Bengals playing Utah State on March 18 at 12 p.m. and Boise State at 4 p.m.
Boise State leads the overall series against the Bengals, 8-3. The Bengals won the last two meetings in against the Broncos in 2010. Boise State is led by sophomore outfielder Tara Glover with a batting average of .447, 20 runs, 10 RBIs and one homerun.
Utah State leads the series against ISU 23-9. The Bengals won two of the three meetings last year, winning 10-2 and 6-1 and losing 3-0.
Minnesota leads the series against the Bengals 2-0. Minnesota sophomore pitcher Sara Moulton has had a strong year thus far with an ERA of 0.64 with a 13-4 record.
Idaho State is led offensively by freshman
Vicky Galasso, who is hitting .344 with three homeruns and 17 RBIS. Becky Simonsen is hitting .308.
Following this weekend, Idaho State plays at BYU on March 20 at 6 p.m. Idaho State then plays its first-ever home game at Miller Ranch Stadium on March 29 against Utah at 4 p.m.
