POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team is back in action on April 13 and 14 at Weber State. Both days are doubleheaders with Friday's game starting at 2 p.m. and Saturday's at 12 p.m. All four games can be followed on live stats on isubengals.com.
Idaho State leads the overall series 23-14 and the Bengals have won 15 of the last 17 meetings dating back to 1982. Weber State and Idaho State played in the longest game in Bengal history, an 18 inning 2-1 victory on April 1, 1983. ISU took three of four from Weber State last year at home.
Amanda Fitzsimmons leads the Bengals offensively with five home runs and 23 RBIs. She is hitting .458 in conference play and has also been a leader in the circle as she is 2-2 in conference play with a 1.67 era. In eight appearances she has 31 strikeouts in 29.1 innings. Fitzsimmons is 5-8 on the year.
Vicky Galasso is hitting .314 for the Bengals with three homeruns and 20 RBIs.
Hailey Breakwell has nine multiple hit games for ISU while Fitzsimmons has six multiple RBI games.
Idaho State is coming off a 7-4 victory over BYU on Monday. The Bengals led wire-to-wire to break an 11-game losing streak against the Cougars. Fitzsimmons earned the win was also 2-for-4 from the plate.
Weber State is 16-23 and 5-3 in Pacific Coast Softball Conference action. The Wildcats are hitting .311 as a team and led by the play of Lyndsey Minnich and Sarah Clark. Minnich is batting .420 with 15 homeruns and 46 RBIs while Clark is 13-8 in the circle with a 3.70 era and she is also hitting .402.
