POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team dropped the final two games of a four-game series at Weber State on Monday afternoon, losing 8-0 and 15-6 in six innings. The Bengals are now 7-31 overall and 3-9 in Pacific Coast Softball Conference play while Weber State improved to 19-24 and 8-4 in league.
The Bengals had 10 hits in the two games with
Courtney Dial going three-for-five,
Vicky Galasso two-for-four and Becky Simonsen two-for-four.
In the game 1 loss the Wildcats scored three runs in the first, four in the third and one in the sixth to earn the victory. WSU had 14 hits to the Bengals three.
Amanda Fitzsimmons took the loss as she allowed 10 hits and seven runs in three innings of work.
In the second game, Weber State jumped out to a 9-2 lead after the second inning. WSU scored all nine runs in the second stanza and never looked back. Weber State led 12-2 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when ISU scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning thanks a three RBI triple down the left field line. Dial also had an RBI single in the inning.
Weber State added three more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Dial was the only Bengal with multiple hits as she was two-for-three with one RBI.
Idaho State returns to the field on Wednesday, April 18, for a 4 p.m. contest at Utah State.
