Bengals Face Utah Valley Thursday in Orem

Idaho State travels to UVU for a contest Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The Bengals take on Utah Valley this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Orem, Utah.

BENGAL OVERVIEW

The Bengals (4-3-0) travels to Orem, Utah to face Utah Valley Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. Video will be streamed live via eisnlive.com with Lance Taylor on the play-by-play. Live stats will be available at www.wolverinegreen.com.

ABOUT IDAHO STATE
The Bengals are 4-3-0 on the season and are led by senior forward Rachel Strawn who has netted six goals. The 5-2 senior also leads ISU in points (13), shots (20), shots on goal (13) and game-winning goals (3). Sophomore forward Amanda Ellsworth leads the assist effort with three on the season. At goal, sophomore Maria Dela Cruz has 13 saves and four goals allowed. ISU has scored 14 goals this season and recorded 95 total shots.

LAST WEEK IN BENGAL SOCCER
Idaho State lost to CSU Bakersfield 5-1 Friday. Freshman Vanessa Cabilan scored her first career goal in the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Maria Dela Cruz recorded five saves in the contest and allowed just one goal. Idaho State then faced Loyola Marymount, dropping the contest 2-0 Sunday afternoon. Overall ISU recorded nine shots with five on goal in the game. Seniors Anna Pingree and Rachel Strawn posted one shot with one shot on goal as did junior Lanie Ward and junior Laura Benson. Junior Kiley Godfrey recorded two shots with one on goal.

PINGREE EARNED POTW AWARD AFTER GOVERNOR'S CUP
Pingree scored three goals at the Governor's Cup, earning co-Big Sky Player of the Week honors. Pingree helped ISU shutout Idaho 2-0 with a volley on a corner kick for the goal to put the Bengals up 2-0. The Bengals improved to 4-0-0 after the win over Idaho, the first time ISU has started at 4-0 since the 2004 season. Pingree scored two goals against Boise State Sunday in a 3-2 overtime loss. She tied the game 1-1 in the 58th minute and scored again in the 69th minute to put ISU up 2-1. Pingree has three goals on the season and two assists for a total of eight points.

SOCCER STANDOUT: RACHEL STRAWN
After scoring three goals and helping lead ISU to wins against North Dakota State and New Mexico State at the Holiday Inn Classic in Boise, Idaho, senior forward Rachel Strawn was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week for matches played Aug. 17-20. Strawn has scored six goals and posted 20 shots with 13 shots on goal so far this season. She has recorded 13 points and scored three game-winning goals.

ABOUT UTAH VALLEY
Utah Valley is currently 1-4-1 on the season. The Wolverines tied Southern Utah 2-2 in their last contest on Sept. 8. The team's last win was Aug. 22 against Sacred Heart (3-2). UVU is 0-2 at home this season. Three Wolverines have scored two goals this season: Lexi Robison, Natalie Baker and Haley Curtis. Lexi Dunn leads in assists with two. Baker leads UVU in shots (17) and shots on goal (8). Regan Benson has had 14 shots with seven on goal for a .500 shot-on-goal percentage. Curtis has scored the team's only game-winner.

SERIES INFO AND LAST MEETING WITH THE WOLVERINES
Idaho State leads the series 4-2-2 and Utah Valley has won the last two meetings. UVU won the last contest 5-1 in Pocatello. ISU's last win against the Wolvernies was on Sept. 23 at home. The Bengals won the contest 2-1. The Bengals are 1-1-2 in Orem. The longest winning streak for either team is two.
