Box Score

MISSOULA, Mont. – Senior forward Rachel Strawn recorded her eighth goal of the season, in a 1-1 tie with Montana Saturday afternoon in Missoula, Mont. The goal puts Strawn in a tie for second in the ISU record books for goals made in a single-season.

Strawn scored her goal in the 58th minute of the contest off a defensive turnover. Strawn took the ball and shot it in to the upper right-hand corner of the net, giving ISU a 1-0 lead.

All looked well for the Bengals until UM's Paytyn Wheeler scored her second goal of the season in the final minutes of the game, tying the score and sending the competition into overtime.

ISU tried to win the game, posting one shot in the first overtime and two in the second, but UM's defense didn't allow an ISU goal, resulting in a tie.

“Unfortunately, we gave up a very late goal to let Montana back in the game,” ISU Head Coach Allison Gibson said. “However, this team does not know the word quit and we continued to battle through another 20 minutes of overtime to try and regain the lead. It didn't happen but we fought hard and gave the 2011 Big Sky Champs a heck of a fight on their home field.”

Freshman goalkeeper Sheridan Hapsic posted six goals with just one goal allowed. UM's goalkeeper had no saves with one goal allowed.

The Bengals move to 5-3-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play while Montana goes to 4-4-2 overall and 0-0-1 in league action. Idaho State returns to the soccer field in another road contest against Big Sky foe Eastern Washington in Cheney, Wash., Sunday, Sept. 23. The game begins at 1 p.m.
