ISU Volleyball Travels to Big Apple for St. John's Tourney

The Bengals face St. Francis College, Fairleigh Dickinson and St. John's in Queens, N.Y.

BENGAL OVERVIEW

Idaho State (3-3) volleyball travels to Queens, N.Y., to compete at the Keiser Classic this weekend hosted by St. John's. The Bengals face St. Francis College Friday, Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 8, The Bengals take on Fairleigh Dickinson at 7 a.m. and St. John's at 1 p.m. Log on to www.redstormstports.com/allaccess/ for live stats and video streaming.

ABOUT IDAHO STATE
The Bengals are 3-3 on the season after defeating UNLV and Tennessee State at the Nike Portland Invitational. Senior outside hitter Breanne Van Every leads the Bengals with 80 kills, averaging 3.48 kills per set and boasts a team-high .284 attack percentage. Junior setter Lori Mendenhall leads the assist effort with 232 sets, averaging 10.09 assists per set. Senior middleblocker Kimberly Naut leads ISU with 22 blocks while redshirt sophomore Kylee Searle leads in digs with 3.35 per set as well as in serving aces with seven.

LAST WEEK IN BENGAL VOLLEYBALL
Last week ISU went 2-1 at the Nike Portland Invitational. The Bengals lost to Portland in five sets before going on a two-match win streak with victories over UNLV (3-1) and Tennessee State (3-0). Van Every led ISU with 46 total kills throughout the tournament's three matches. She averaged 3.83 kills per set and a .317 attack percentage. Van Every also recorded 20 digs, three service aces and four blocks over the weekend.She now leads the Bengals with 80 kills on the season, averaging 3.48 kills per set.

VAN EVERY NAMED TO SECOND ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Senior outside hitter Breanne Van Every has earned all-tournament honors at the Nike Portland Invitational and El Paso Sports Commission Invitational. Van Every led the Bengals at the El Paso Sports Commission Invitational averaging 3.09 kills per set and 3.55 digs per set. She also tallied two service aces, three blocks and four assists. At the Nike Portland Invitational, Van Every led the Bengals with 46 kills. She also recorded 20 digs, three service aces and four blocks.
 
Van Every has been named to two all-tournament teams this season. In 2011, Van Every was named to the all-tournament teams for the Utah State Tournament and UniWyo Cowgirl Classic.
 
ABOUT FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON
Fairleigh Dickinson is 3-6 on the season and currently on a two-match losing streak. Meaghan Wheeler leads the knights in both kills and digs. She is averaging 4.54 kills per set as well as 3.85 digs per set. Allison Butler leads the assist effort, averaging 8.38 assists per set and Maddie Gibbons is the top blocker for Fairleigh Dickinson with 44 on the season. This will be the first meeting between the Knights and Bengals.

ABOUT ST. FRANCIS COLLEGE
St. Francis College has yet to win a contest this season and is currently on a nine-game losing streak. Maggie Niu leads the Terriers in both kills and blocks. She is averaging 2.0 kills per set and has tallied 19 total blocks this season. Kelly O'Halloran leads the assist effort with 4.72 assists per set while Feliz Ramirez is the leader in digs with 2.89 per set. This will be the first meeting between the Bengals and St. Francis College.

ABOUT ST. JOHN'S
This is the first meeting between the two programs. St. John's is 7-1 on the season and has won six straight. Aleksandra Wachowicz leads in kills with 3.65 per set while Sabrina Piegza is the leader in assists with 9.42 per set. Gabriela Petkova leads the dig effort with 3.69 per set and Ahsley Boursiquot is the top blocker with 18 on the season so far.
