POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost 66-53 to North Dakota Thursday night at Holt Arena. North Dakota improved to 4-8 and 1-2 in Big Sky Conference play while the Bengals fell to 1-11 and 0-3 in league.
Tomas Sanchez led the Bengals with 15 points, while
Andre Hatchett had 11 points.
Chris Hansen had 10 points and four steals. Sanchez, Hansen and
Neveij Walters led Idaho State with four rebounds each.
Both teams shot 40 percent from the field. North Dakota was 7-for-23 from the 3-point line and ISU only hit two 3's on the evening. North Dakota out rebounded Idaho State 43-22.
North Dakota built a 23-7 lead 10 minutes into the game and 31-10 with 4:34 remaining until halftime. ISU then closed out the first half on a 10-0 run to come within 11 points at 31-20.
The Bengals came out of the locker room and scored the first four points to cut the North Dakota lead to 31-24 with 19:04 to play.
The Bengals came within eight points five different times in the second half with the most recent time being a 51-43 deficit with 3:05 to play in the game.
The Bengals will be back in action Saturday January 5 when they take on Northern Colorado at home. Tip-off is at 7:05 p.m in Holt Arena. There are $5 tickets available for Saturday's game at the Holt Arena Ticket Office.
