POCATELLO, Idaho - Idaho State volleyball battled North Dakota to a 3-2 loss tonight at Reed Gym. The Bengals won the first set 25-23 before falling in the second 25-20. They won the third set 25-21 before losing 25-23 in the fourth and 15-9 in the fifth.
Tressa Lyman led the Bengals with a double-double, 14 kills and 13 digs.
Sommer Reeder,
Makenzie Filer and
Marissa Todd all posted double-figure kills as well. Filer led in blocks with a career best 11.
Kylee Sessions led in digs with 14 while
Alydia Fields-Grimm posted 11 and
Hayley Farrer posted 10. Fields-Grimm led in service aces with three.
Lori Mendenhall-Lee led in assists with 52 and also posted three kills, seven digs, a service ace and four blocks.
Idaho State posted a .203 attack percentage compared to North Dakota's .251. The Bengals were out-blocked 27-21.
"We have to learn to be tougher down the stretch," said Head Coach
Chad Teichert. "Getting those points can be hard, but sometimes we have to do hard things. We have to get to a point when we're ahead 18-16, we stay ahead."
The Bengals are back in action tomorrow night, taking on reining Big Sky Tournament Champion Northern Colorado. Game time is 7 p.m. in Reed Gym.
