Hall Scores 19 in Loss at Arizona State

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost 88-60 to Arizona State on Friday evening at Wells Fargo Arena in front of a crowd of 5,899.  Evann Hall led the Bengals with 19 points and was 8-11 from the free throw line.

Andre Hatchett had 11 points and seven rebounds and Jeffrey Solarin had seven points and seven rebounds.

"I thought Evann and Andre played really good," Idaho State coach Bill Evans said. "I am really proud of our effort and the team did a tremendous job of playing through adversity. Arizona State shot the ball well beyond the arc but I am not sure we covered it well."

The Bengals shot 37.5 percent from the field while the Sun Devils shot 49 percent. Idaho State was 16-27 from the free throw line and ASU was 22-29. The Sun Devils out rebounded ISU 39-35.  Arizona State made 12 3-pointers.

Both teams had 14 turnovers but the Bengals managed only five assists while ASU had 19.

Idaho State played Arizona State point for point in the first 12 minutes of the game as the game was tied four times and the lead changed hands five times. The Bengals last lead was at 10-9 five minutes into the game on a Hatchett jumper.

The game was tied at 15 with 12:09 left in the first half on a basket by Scotty Tyler. ASU went on a 9-0 run to take a 24-15 lead but the Bengals then scored the next six points to cut the Sun Devil lead to 24-21 with 5:53 left until the break.

Arizona State then went on a 17-4 run to lead 41-25 at halftime. ASU led by as many as 36 points in the second half.

"Even though the score was not what we wanted it to be I thought we got better tonight," Evans said. "We have to find a way to drive the ball and get to the line."

Idaho State plays at San Francisco on Monday, Nov. 18. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. (MST) with Tim Lewis calling the action on Rock 102.5 and 930 CBS Sports Radio.
