Men's Basketball Plays at Weber State on Monday

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team plays three games this upcoming week beginning Monday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in Ogden, Utah, against Weber State. The game will be broadcast live on 102.5 KMGI and 930 KSEI with Jerry Miller calling the action. Weber State leads the series 76-47 and the Bengals are 9-46 in Ogden. The Wildcats have won eight of the last nine meetings. The last time ISU has won at Weber State was a 58-55 win on January 4, 2007.

Weber State is 16-5 and 11-2 in Big Sky Conference play. The Wildcats are 9-1 at home and led by the play of Davion Berry's 14.6 points per game overall and 14.8 points in conference play.  Scott Bamforth is scoring 13.6 points overall and 14.8 in league play. WSU is scoring 77.1 points overall and 76.5 in Big Sky Conference play. The Wildcat defense is holding opponents to 61.8 points overall and 63.2 in league games. Weber State is shooting .506 percent the field for the season and .511 in conference while holding opponents to under 40 percent shooting from the field.

The week That Was...
Idaho State played one game last week, losing 81-79 in overtime to Southern Utah. Tomas Sanchez led the Bengals with 19 points while Andre Hatchett had a career-high 18 points. Melvin Morgan had 15 and Neveij Walters had 11. Idaho State shot 41.2 percent from the field and forced 22 turnovers. SUU did out rebound ISU 42-28.

Bengals vs. Vandals
Idaho State is set to play Idaho on Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. in Reed Gym in the Bracketbuster game. Idaho is a former Big Sky Conference member and will rejoin the conference in two years in all sports but football. Idaho and Idaho State have played 100 times with the Vandals leading the series 58-42. This is the final year for the bracketbuster game.

Free Throws Down the Stretch
In the final two minutes of a game, Idaho State is 38-48 from the free throw line (.792). Sherrod Baldwin is four-for-four and Tomas Sanchez is nine-for-11 (.818). Melvin Morgan is 11-for-12 (.917). Jakub Kusmieruk is two-for-two and Neveij Walters is two-for-two. No other Bengal is shooting greater than 70 percent from the free throw line during this stretch.

Tomas Sanchez is in the Top 10 in five different Big Sky statistical categories in overall games. He ranks sixth in assists (3.5), fifth in free throw percentage (.831), sixth in steals (1.3), ninth in assists (1.3), fourth in minutes played (33.4). Melvin Morgan ranks 10th in free throw percentage (.791) and seventh in steals at 1.3. Chris Hansen ranks fourth in 3-pointers made per game at 2.2. In Big Sky Conference games only, Sanchez is eighth in assists at 3.6 and fourth in minutes played (34.4). Morgan ranks seventh in free throw percentage in conference games at .830 and seventh in steals at 1.5. Hansen is fifth in 3-pointers-made per game at 2.2, ninth in free throw percentage (.816) and sixth in steals (1.5).
