Bengals Host Idaho in 101st Meeting at 2 p.m. on Saturday

The game will be played in Reed Gym.

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State takes a break from conference play and hosts Idaho in the annual Bracketbuster game. The game is at 2 p.m. in Reed Gym. Jerry Miller and Jay McMillin will call the action on 102.5 KMGI and 930 KSEI. Bengal fans can get a buy one ticket get one free promotion courtesy of Jimmy Johns. Fans can also bring shoes to donate to the men's game for the student-athlete advisory committee shoe drive and get a buy one get one half-off ticket promotion.

This is the 101st meeting between the two schools. Idaho leads the series 58-42 but the Bengals have won the last five meetings.  The most recent meeting was Dec. 29, 2008 where ISU won 61-59 in Pocatello. During the 2007-08 season ISU beat the Vandals 71-69 in Moscow in overtime.

Idaho is 9-16 and 5-9 in WAC play. The Vandals are led by Kyle Barone's 16.7 points and 9.4 rebounds . Barone is scoring 17.4 points and grabbing 10.4 rebounds in league play. Idaho is shoting .472 percent from the field on the year.

The Bengals are coming off a week where they played three games, losing 56-40 at Weber State, beating Montana State, 87-51 and losing to first-place Montana 61-54. Both games against Montana and Montana State were played in Reed Gym. Against Montana State Chris Hansen had a career-high 27 points while making a school-record nine 3-pointers.

Bengals in the Bracketbuster
This is the third year the Bengals have played in the Bracketbuster game. This is also the final year for the event. ISU is 1-1 in in bracketbuster games, beating Cal State Fullerton, 84-79 in Pocatello and losing 66-64 in overtime at Pacific on a buzzer-beater shot.

Bengals in Reed Gym
Since 2008-09 the Bengals are 10-6 in games played in Reed Gym. Idaho State is currently 1-1 this year and was 1-3 in 2011-12 in games played in Reed. In the 2008-09 year ISU was 3-0 and the following year the team boasted a 3-1 mark in Reed Gym. Idaho State went 2-1 in Reed Gy, om 2010-11.

Bengals Amongst Big Sky Leaders
Tomas Sanchez ranks in the Top 10 in six different Big Sky statistical categories overall. He is sixth in assists (3.6), fourth in free throw percentage (.844), fifth in steals (1.4), ninth in assist to turnover ration (1.3) and third in minutes played (33.7). In conference games Sanchez is 10th in free throw percentage, .809 and fifth in minutes played (34). Melvin Morgan is fourth in steals (1.5) overall and fourth in conference games at 1.8. Chris Hansen ranks 10th in steals overall at 1.2 and sixth in league games at 1.5. He is third in 3-pointers made per game at 2.4 and he is making 2.6 in conference. Neveij Walters is ninth in blocks overall at 1.0 and 7th in conference games at 1.2

Hansen Behind the Arc
After not making a 3-pointer for the first time this season at Weber State, sophomore Chris Hansen came back a game-later and set an Idaho State single-game record for 3-pointers by making 9-11 in an 87-51 win over Montana State on Feb. 14.
