POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team begins the 2013 softball season in St. George, Utah against No. 6 Tennessee on Feb. 8, 2013. The Bengals also play Nevada, Utah Valley, BYU and South Dakota during the three-day tournament. Live stats will be available each game at isubengals.com and live audio will be available for the Tennessee game.
Big Sky Conference Adds Softball
Idaho State is no longer in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference. The Big Sky Conference now sponsors softball with the additions of North Dakota and Southern Utah to the league. Conference games will be a three-game series instead of four as in PCSC play.
Idaho State vs. Tennessee
This is the first meeting between the two schools.
Idaho State vs. Nevada
Idaho State leads the series 3-2. This is the first meeting between the two schools since April 16, 1983.
Idaho State vs. Utah Valley
Utah Valley leads the overall series 20-10. The two teams split a four-game series last year in Pocatello.
Idaho State vs. BYU
BYU leads the series 11-4. The two teams split the series last year with BYU winning 5-2 in Provo and Idaho State winning 7-4 in Pocatello.
Idaho State vs. South Dakota
This is the second meeting between the two schools. Idaho State beat South Dakota 6-4 last year on Feb. 24, 2012.
Youth Movement
This year's Bengal softball team boasts 11 freshmen and sophomores. The six freshmen on the team are

Maddy Hickman and
Bailey Foster. The five sophomores are
Hailey Breakwell,
Gabby Lopez,
Kelsi Ott,
Shaundee Garrett and
Vicky Galasso.
Top Hitters Return to Bengal Lineup
Idaho State returns its top four hitters from 2012. Senior
Amanda Fitzsimmons led the Bengal offense with a .324 average, nine homeruns and 37 RBI. She was also 11-13 in the circle. Sophomore
Vicky Galasso hit .303 while
Becky Molyneaux hit .278 and
Hailey Breakwell .273.
Terah Blackwell missed the 2012 season but she returns in 2013. In 2011 she hit 10 homeruns and 33 RBI.
