POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State softball team split two games on the final day of the Boise State SpringHill Suites Invitational, beating Utah State 9-0 in five innings and losing 8-7 to Boise State. Idaho State is now 9-14 on the season.

Idaho State hit .357 on the day with 20 hits. The Bengals were led by Amanda Fitzsimmons, who was 5-7 with two home runs and two RBI and scored five runs. Vicky Galasso was 4-7 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. With the two home runs Fitzsimmons hit on Sunday, she now holds the career home run record to herself with 21 homers, passing Heather Dixon's 19.

“I thought Kelsi (Ott) pitched tremendous against Utah State,” Idaho State coach Julie Wright said. “Our offense is so electric at times. I was proud of Haley Douglas coming in for her first appearance after the injury. It was great to see her out there. We got into a slugfest with Boise State and came up on the wrong side of it. We have to do a better job with relief pitching.”

The Bengals used five pitchers on the day with Ott earning the win against Utah State and Fitzsimmons taking the loss against Boise State.
