POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team travels to Reno, Nevada to play two games against Nevada and Santa Clara. Idaho State plays Santa Clara on March 23 and 24 at 11 a.m. and Nevada on the 23 at 4 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on March 24. Log onto isubengals.com on how to follow each game.
Idaho State leads the series vs. Nevada, 5-2 with ISU winning the previous two meetings this year, 5-4 in St. George and 9-6 in Las Vegas. Santa Clara leads the series against Idaho State, 3-0. The Bengals lost 4-3 to Santa Clara on Feb. 24 in Santa Clara.
ISU Among Top in Big Sky Conference Stats
The Bengals are first as a team in the conference in nine different statistical categories. ISU ranks first in batting average (.305), slugging percentage (.502), on base percentage (.364), runs scored (105), hits (188), home runs (29), total bases (310) and stolen bases (24).
Individual Bengals Among Big Sky Stat Leaders
Vicky Galasso ranks in the Top 5 in eight different statistical categories. She is first in batting average (.473), slugging percentage (.905), on base percentage (.500), runs scored (20), homeruns (9), total bases (67) and hits with 35.
Amanda Fitzsimmons is second in batting average (.386), slugging percentage (.877), tied for first in on base percentage (.500), second in total bases (50), second in innings pitched at 82.2 and fourth in strikeouts at 55. Fitzsimmons is also second in runs scored (18), second in RBI (17) and second in home runs (8).
Katelyn Marquez is first in stolen bases with 10 and third in runs scored with 15.
Hailey Breakwell is fourth in home runs (5) and fourth in slugging percentage (.547).
Maddy Hickman is fifth in batting average at .333.
Offensive Power
Through the first four weekends, Idaho State has hit 29 homeruns in 23 games and hitting .305 as a team. ISU hit 21 homeruns in 2012 and the team record is 35 hit by the 2011 team. The best team batting average was .286 in the 2009 season and .284 in 2010.
Bengals Nearing Single Season Records
Vicky Galasso has nine home runs this year and the single-season record is 12 by Heather Dixon in 2007.
Vicky Galasso's .473 batting average would currently rank as the second-best single-season average. Nancy Long hit .625 in 1977 by going 25-40.
Amanda Fitzsimmons .386 batting average would rank as the eighth best single season average. Galasso is seven runs away from breaking into the Top 10 for runs scored and three RBI from moving into eighth place on the single-season RBI Top 10 list. Galasso currently has 35 hits and needs 10 hits to move into ninth place for the single-season Top 10.
Fitzsimmons Has Record Breaking Weekend

Amanda Fitzsimmons set the Bengal career records for home runs (21), RBI (75) and doubles (25). She ranks third in hits (108), fourth in at bats (343) and third in runs scored at 70.
Molyneaux Breaks Career Stolen Base Record
Idaho State senior
Becky Molyneaux broke the career stolen base record during the season-opening tournament in St. George. Molyneaux was three-for-three at Santa Clara and now has 26 stolen bases on 31 attempts since the start of the 2012 season. Emily Hu previously held the record with 20 on 22 attempts. Through the first 23 games, Molyneaux is 7-8 stealing bases.
