POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team finished the Wolf Pack Classic with a 3-1 record after beating Santa Clara 12-1 in five innings and falling to Nevada 6-5 in Reno, Nev. The Bengals are now 12-15 heading into the start of Big Sky Conference play this weekend at Southern Utah.
Idaho State once again was solid offensively as it pounded out 19 hits in the two games and hit .345.
Terah Blackwell led the attack by going 3-6 with two home runs, seven RBI and two runs scored.
Nine different Bengals had hits on the day.

Courtney Dial,
Amanda Fitzsimmons and
Vicky Galasso all had two hits while
Hailey Breakwell got one, a home run.
Kelsi Ott earned the win against Santa Clara by pitching four innings, allowing only one hit and striking out five. Haley Douglass pitched the final inning and retired the side.
Fitzsimmons took the loss against Nevada, pitching five innings and
Bailey Foster pitched the final inning.
“We had a good weekend as a team,” Idaho State coach
Julie Wright said. “We really wanted that fourth win against Nevada but couldn't quite pull it off. Our offense continues to pound the ball so that is exciting. Defensively we did some great things and that was good to see.
Haley Douglas gave us another great inning and I am very pleased with her recovery process. Amanda, Bailey and Kelsi are all in good places so we feel pretty good about what we are doing heading into our conference opener.”
Idaho State had five home runs and 16 RBI on the day.

The offense belted 13 hit, led by Marquez going 3-3 with two runs and an RBI. Blackwell was 2-4 with a home run and five RBI while Fitzsimmons was 2-3 with three runs and three RBI and Dial was 2-3 with an RBI and two runs.
Idaho State led 4-0 after three innings before scoring four in the fourth and fifth innings to put the game away.
The first run came on a home run from Hickman in the second inning. In the third, Blackwell had a two RBI single and after leading the inning off with a single, Dial would score off a single by Marquez and a fielding error by Santa Clara.
In the fourth inning, Fitzsimmons had an RBI double and Blackwell homered to left field to up the ISU lead. Idaho State scored its four runs in the fifth inning of an RBI single from Dial, a two RBI double from Fitzsimmons and a Marquez single up the middle.
Nevada 6 Idaho State 5
Idaho State led 5-1 after the top of the fifth inning but Nevada scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning to rally for the victory.
Idaho State had six hits and one error in the field. Hickman, Breakwell and Blackwell all had home runs in the game.
Idaho State opens Big Sky conference play this weekend at Southern Utah.
