Softball Plays Three Games at Northern Colorado

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team returns to conference play with a three game series at Northern Colorado, April 13-14. Both days begin at 1 p.m. with the contest on the 13th being a double header. Log onto isubengals.com for information on how to follow the games. Idaho State has won four straight games, tying the record for consecutive wins since the program was brought back in 2007.  The 2009 team also won four straight games. The program record for consecutive wins is 10 by the 1979 team.

Northern Colorado has won seven of the last nine meetings with eight of the games being played in Greeley. This is the third straight year ISU has played at Northern Colorado. The Bengals did split a four-game series last year with the Bears, winning 4-2 and 10-9 in eight innings and losing 8-6 and 11-10.  Northern Colorado is 13-24-1 and 3-6 in Big Sky Conference play.

It is a Sweep
ISU's three-game sweep over Weber State last weekend was the first time it has swept a conference opponent in program history.

Hot Bat
Vicky Galasso is currently riding a 16-game hitting streak. The school record for longest hitting streak is 19. Galasso has 16 multiple hit games and eight multiple RBI games. Her .453 batting average is the best in the conference.

Offensive Power
The Idaho State softball team has already broke the team single-season home run record. The team currently has 40 and the record was 35 set by the 2011 team. ISU is currently hitting .321 as a team and no Bengal team has hit over .300 for a season since the program was brought back in 2007. The 1977 team hit .351. The best batting average was .286 in the 2009 season and .284 in 2010. ISU set the team-single season RBI record in the win at UVU. The team has184 RBI on the season and the record was 182 set by the 2010 team.

Bengals Nearing Single Season Records
Amanda Fitzsimmons is one home run away from tying the ISU single-season record for home runs. She has 11 and the record is 12 by Heather Dixon in 2007. Vicky Galasso's .453 batting average would currently rank as the second-best single-season average. Nancy Long hit .625 in 1977 by going 25-40.

ISU among Top in Big Sky conference Overall stats
The Bengals are first as a team in the conference in 10 different statistical categories. ISU ranks first in batting average (.323), slugging percentage (.524), on base percentage (.383), runs scored (189), hits (299), home runs (40), doubles (52), total bases (485), RBI (177) and stolen bases (42). The Bengals are second in triples with seven.
