POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team swept a conference opponent for the first time on Saturday after beating Weber State 9-3 at Miller Ranch Stadium. The Bengals beat Weber State 7-2 and 9-6 on Friday afternoon. ISU is now 16-18 and 4-2 in Big Sky Conference play.
“It is so cool,” Idaho State coach 
Julie Wright said on the sweep of Weber State. “It means everything. It shows this team that we are on the right track and doing the right things. All the work that I have put them through and the grind of practice is worth it. That means a lot to a young team and a team that is trying to find their way.”
Idaho State scored its nine runs on nine hits and had one error in the field while Weber State had three runs on five hits and committed two errors.
Vicky Galasso led the Bengal offensive attack by going 3-3, all three hits being doubles, and had three RBI and scored one run. 
Maddy Hickman was 1-4 with three RBI and a home run.

Terah Blackwell and 
Courtney Dial all had RBI on the afternoon.
Kelsi Ott earned the win by pitching 4.1 innings, allowing five hits and striking out four.
“Kelsi has some nasty stuff and it was proved today,” Wright said. “She loves the game and loves to play the game.”
Amanda Fitzsimmons pitched 1.2 innings and did not give up a hit and 
Haley Douglas tossed the final inning and retired the side.
Weber State scored a run in the top of the first inning but the Bengals responded with two runs in the bottom of the first and four in the second to take a 6-1 lead after two innings.
“Energy is huge in our game but with my team it is the biggest thing,” Wright said. “We want to speed the game up for the opposing team so we are high energy. We want to keep the accelerator down to the floor the entire game.”
ISU tallied its first run in the first inning on an RBI double from Galasso. In the second inning, 
Katee Wiley started the inning by reaching base on an error. Wiley would score the first run of the inning on an RBI from Dial and 
Katelyn Marquez singled home another run later in the inning to up the ISU lead to 4-1. Galasso hit her second double of the game and drove in two runs to put ISU on top 6-1.
Weber State put two runs on the scoreboard in the fifth inning but ISU scored three in the sixth inning to put the game away. Hickman hit her two-run home run and 
Terah Blackwell had an RBI single. 
The Bengals return to the field on April 10 for a 4 p.m. contest at Utah Valley University.
