Bengals Head to Hawai'i for the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic

Idaho State will face Hawai'i and Florida Gulf Coast in Honolulu

ABOUT IDAHO STATE
The Bengals look to rebound after three straight losses including the first home defeats since early 2011.  Allyson Stainbrook was stellar last week with three goals in two matches including both scores against Utah Valley.

The defense struggled, after only allowing one goal and seven shots on goal in the first two matches combined the Bengals have allowed 10 goals and 35 shots on goal.

There are three non-conference matches remaining on the schedule for Idaho State, after the Hawai'i trip the Bengals will travel to Wyoming to play the Cowgirls next Sunday before opening the conference schedule at home against Eastern Washington on Sept. 26.

LAST MATCH: UTAH STATE
Utah State's Taryn Rose scored on a penalty kick in the 88th minute to break a 2-2 tie and give the Aggies a 3-2 win over Idaho State at Davis Field Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half Madaline Gochnour found the back of the net in the 59th minute to kick off a scoring frenzy.

Starting with Gochnour's goal the two teams combined for four goals in six minutes of match time.

Jennifer Flynn scored for the Aggies then was answered by an Allyson Stainbrook free kick goal, her third goal of the week.  Shaw Haddow then bookended the scoring burst with a goal in the 65th minute.


FIRST TRIP TO THE 50th STATE
The Bengals have played The University of Hawai'i on two occasions. The first time was in 1998 the match was played in Sacramento, California the Bengals lost 3-1. The second match with against the Wahine was played in 2003 in Pocatello ISU again lost 2-0.

Although the team has never played in Hawai'i two players on the Bengal Squad, Vanessa Cabilan and Ka'imi Morreira, hail from the Aloha State.


FIRST MEETING WITH FLORIDA GULF COAST
The Bengals and Eagles have never met on the soccer field. FGCU started their program in 2007.

ABOUT HAWAI'I
The Rainbow Wahine enter their second season in the Big West after making their debut in the league last year. UH went 8-9-3 overall in 2012 under the direction of head coach Michele Nagamine, including a sixth place finish (3-5-1) in the Big West. The team was picked to finish tied for ninth in last year's poll. Nagamine returns 16 players and nine starters from last year's squad. A total of 11 newcomers also join the team.

Hawai'i has been selected to finish seventh in the 2013 Big West Conference Preseason Poll as determined by a vote of the league's nine head coaches.

ABOUT FLORIDA GULF COAST
The Eagles enter the weekend with a 3-1-1 record.  Their only loss came at the hands of 9th ranked Florida in the first match of the season.  They have since rattle off wins over Albany, Mississippi State and Florida International. They also have a tie to Davidson.

The Eagles return eight starters off of last year's team which won the Atlantic Sun title.

They are coached by Jim Blankenship the reigning Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year.
