BENGAL OVERVIEW
Idaho State heads to Utah Valley University for their final non-conference games against UVU, Utah and UC Irvine this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14. Games will be broadcast at uvu.edu/uvutv and live stats are available at WolverineGreen.com.
AGAINST MONTANA WESTERN
In their home opener against Montana Western on Tuesday night, the Bengals beat the Bulldogs in three sets, posting a .301 attack percentage. In the third set, the Bengals posted a match-high .429 attack percentage.
TRESSA LYMAN
Sophomore
Tressa Lyman led the Bengals against Montana Western with 14 kills, two blocks and six digs. She had a .323 attack percentage. Lyman leads the Big Sky Conference in kills per set with 4.12.
SETTERS
Freshman
Hayley Farrer had her first double-assists game against Montana Western where she posted 16 along with four digs and service ace. Senior
Lori Mendenhall-Lee led in assists with 28 along with five kills and a solo block.
"She's smart," said Lyman after the game. "You know that if she is giving you the ball, she knows you'll do something good with it."
NEWCOMERS
Freshman
Marissa Todd posted eight kills and an ace against Montana Western. Fellow freshmen
Bailey Bars and
Sommer Reeder both had seven kills and three blocks. Bars had a .875 attack percentage with her seven kills coming on eight attempts.
"We have a lot of young players, and they are doing a good job," said Head Volleyball Coach
Chad Teichert. "Hopefully, this year is going to be good and the future is very bright."
ABOUT UTAH VALLEY
The Wolverines are coming off a 1-2 trip to the University of Arizona and are 2-5 on the year. Utah Valley leads the all-time series 6-4, but they fell to the Bengals 3-0 in their most recent meeting, Sept. 24, 2011.
ABOUT UTAH
The Utes are off to their best start in school history with a 7-0 record and won the North Texas Invitational last weekend. Their first match is against UC Irvine whose perfect record was snapped in their most recent game against Cleveland State. The Bengals are 10-27 against the Utah, losing their most recent meeting 3-0 on Oct. 3, 2006.
ABOUT UC IRVINE
The Anteaters boast a 5-1 record, losing their last match to Cleveland State last weekend and play BYU tonight before they take on the Utah Valley Classic. UC Irvine is 2-0 all-time over Idaho State, winning the last match-up 3-2 in 1999.
