The Bengals lost their first set 25-22 before winning the second 25-19. They fell 25-22 in the third and 25-23 in the fourth. They posted a .253 attack percentage compared to UC Irvine's .300.
The Bengals open conference play this weekend against Northern Arizona on Sept. 19 and Southern Utah on Sept. 21.
