LARAMIE, Wyo. – Allyson Stainbrook sent a free kick into the back of the net in the 102nd minute to claim a 1-0 road win over Wyoming in the last non-conference match of 2013.

Stainbrook was moved to the midfield from the backline late in the second half and came up big with the game-winner during the second overtime.

"Ally has been a rock for us," Head Coach Allison Gibson said. "It has been rough for us during the past few weeks and during that time she has been our leader. She deserved that goal."

On the other end of the field the Bengal defense was anchored by sophomore goalkeeper Sheridan Hapsic, who tallied seven saves in her second shutout of the season.

"(Hapsic) was so focused today, we could see it during warm-ups," Gibson said. "Our team has struggled with confidence these last few weeks, especially Sheridan. Today she was confident, you could see it on her face and it showed up in her effort."

The Bengal backline played exceptionally well to help Hapsic score the shutout.

"Our backline looked as good as they have since the first week," Gibson said. "We still have a lot of work to do to improve our game but our team work and confidence is back and we're excited to start conference this week."

Wyoming outshot ISU 15-8 but the Bengals were far more accurate with five of their eight shots being on goal while only seven of Wyoming's 15 shots were on goal.

Stainbrook led the Bengals with four shots, two of those were on goal.

The returning champs start Big Sky play Thursday at 4 p.m. when Eastern Washington comes to Davis Field. The Eagles finished the 2012 sixth in the Big Sky but gave ISU one of their two losses.

"We are all in first place right now," Gibson said. "There is so much parity in this conference that we have to be ready to play every match. Eastern Washington proved that last year."

The Bengals will then host 2012 co-regular season champions Montana Saturday at 1 p.m.
