Winning Streak Snapped, Bears Beat Bengals in 5

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State volleyball team watched their seven-match winning streak come to an end as Northern Colorado downed the Bengals 3-2 (24-26, 25-19, 25-13, 17-25 and 15-10) Friday night at Reed Gym. The loss is the first in conference for ISU (4-1).

"They (UNC) are a lot better than people realize," Head Coach Chad Teichert said. "In one of their two losses their big gun was out and that makes a huge difference. I thought they (UNC) played really well and maybe even out hustled us which bothers me.  We played well, but we just weren't consistent enough. You have to be consistent against a good team."

The Bengals played their first five-set match of the season but could not find a way to keep the winning streak alive as three Northern Colorado players posted double-digit kills.

ISU was led by double-doubles from Hayley Farrer (15 digs, 45 assists) Alydia Fields-Grimm (10 kills, 12 digs) and Tressa Lyman (15 kills, 17 digs). The 17 digs is a season-high for Lyman.

Idaho State is back on the court tomorrow night at 7 p.m. against North Dakota, the last undefeated team in the Big Sky Conference.

"We talked about doing the things we need to do to be prepared for tomorrow night," Teichert said. "Hopefully they are mature enough competitively to be ready to go."
