Volleyball Streak Rolls to 11 as Bengals Close Out Regular Season

OGDEN, Utah – The Idaho State volleyball team closed out their regular season with a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-16, 25-21) over Weber State Saturday night at Swenson Gym.

The Bengals (21-8, 15-1 BSC) have won 11 consecutive matches.  It's the longest streak since the 1987 team won 17 in a row.

"Overall we are playing well. You can't put together a winning streak like that without playing well," Head Coach Chad Teichert said. "I want them to keep improving that's for sure."

Tressa Lyman collected nine kills while Whitney Bartschi-Harrington had eight. Kylee Sessions had 10 digs and Hayley Farrer dished out 27 assists.

ISU will look to repeat as conference tournament champions as they host the Idaho Central Credit Union Big Sky volleyball tournament.  The top seed Bengals will face the eight seed Southern Utah at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday November 20. Semi-final matches will take place on Friday with the championship match scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.

The winner of the tournament receives the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

"We have to take things one ball and one match at a time," Teichert said. "We can't look past any game."

Tickets for the three-day tournament may be purchased by calling the ISU ticket office at 282-FANS or by visiting their location at Holt Arena.  Tickets will also be available at Vickers Western Store in Pocatello or online at isu.edu/tickets

An all-session pass will be $25 for adults and $20 for youth and seniors.  Individual sessions are $10 for adults, $8 for youth and seniors and $3 for college students with their ID's.
