POCATELLO, Idaho – A dream season came up just short for the Idaho State volleyball team as the Bengals lost 3-0 (25-17, 25-20 and 29-27) to Northern Colorado in the championship match of the Idaho Central Credit Union Big Sky Tournament.
Idaho State finishes the season 23-9 tying for the most wins under head coach
Chad Teichert.
"This team has done things that haven't been done at Idaho State for years and years," Teichert said. "They will be able to look back and remember what a great year they had. Give Northern Colorado credit because they really played well tonight."
Northern Colorado jumped out to the early win in set number one and then edged out the Bengals in the final two sets collecting crucial kills and digs at the right times.
"I feel like we worked really hard all season," senior libero
Kylee Sessions said. "It's hard to see it end like this. The support from the crowd this week is something I will never forget. We just have to remember the positive things we accomplished this season and the memories we built with our teammates."
The Bengals were led by
Tressa Lyman with 12 kills while
Amy Sorensen added 10.
By virtue of winning the conference tournament Northern Colorado earns the Big Sky's automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
